She has hair like mine, too--very thick, naturally curly and naturally wavey, The yellow pages can be your best friend sometimes. Also, ask for affordable styling products; my hairdresser sends me to a beauty supply store. I've been with her for almost 10 years--2 husbands (hers) and my moving 20 miles away. She recommends affordable products at a beauty supply store, is willing to make changes to my hair styles based upon pictures I've seen in magazines and keeps me intertained with stories about her life. Other than that, I get so many compliments on my hair color--naturally red, but with low lights and gold highlights. Keep calling--you'll find your stylist. I also have found that it could take a few appointments with the same stylist before you both feel comfortable with each other. Once I trust my stylist, I give them carte blanche to do what they want with my style and color. Once in a while, they get a little over creative, and I offer them more guidance the next time around.
