Do you love your bras?

February 14th, 2007

You should. The right bra gives you curves and slims you down. Start with your bra drawer when you spring clean and weed out over the next few months. You need at least 5 fabulous, everyday bras that give you the comfort, shape and support that you need to feel like a bombshell everyday.

Make sure…

  • that you wear an underwire if you are a C-cup or larger, because you’ll need the support.
  • that you actually wear a bra and not just a camisole if you are small-breasted, because even small assets need enhancing. A camisole cannot give you the definition that a bra can.

Treat yourself to a Valentine’s Day gift today and buy a bra that you love.

    Sorry about that..computer issue.

I really like the Cacique line at Lane Bryant. They have an underwire convertible bra that I love, love, love!! :) I have several of these and love them!!

It especially makes a difference when they fit properly. :)

April, I’m not what you would call voluptuous, so I can’t speak from experience, but I read on Oprah.com that a well-fitted bra can help reduce the appearance of back flab. Angie has also written about it here: most women wear bras that are too big–i.e. they could go down a size and up a cup to have a better fit.

Last year, I went to Nordstrom’s and had a proper fitting–then spent 30-40 minutes trying on bras. The sales clerk was wonderful, she kept bringing in all sorts of styles and examining how they fit me. I highly recommend doing that…I’m a hard to fit size (because I fall between a C and a D), so it was important to try each style before purchasing. Every company seems to have their own definition of cup size!

A couple of things for pregnant or nursing mothers. For the first third of my pregnancies, as I started growing larger, my cup size hadn’t yet significantly increased to warrant a new bra but my bras were getting tighter around me. Nordstrom’s had something called a bra extender (for $2) that I bought - there were 3-4″ strips with extra hooks. They were wonderful.

Also, I had a really hard time fitting into nursing bras (large cups, narrow shoulders so the straps would keep falling off). I tried everything from specialty maternity stores to custom fitters. And ended up buying $12 bras at Sears and J.C. Penny that finally fitted.
