Perfect Pointers

February 16th, 2007

For those of you who have spent years investing in heeled pointy-toed shoes – don’t worry! They are still in fashion and absolutely stylish. It’s true that wedges, round-toes, peep-toes and platforms are the trend this season, but your points remain perfectly timeless.

Pointy-toed heels are especially good for pretty pear shaped bodies that need the extra height. The length of the point elongates the leg, giving it that slimming effect. The “stumpy” look of round-toed shoes does exactly the opposite, making your legs look shorter and wider.

Sorry - I hate shoes like that - they kill my feet! The narrow heels put all the pressure on my fallen metatarsals & squish my toes & they are what the Southern ladies used to call “setting shoes” - perfect if you don’t have to WALK anywhere!

This pear shape just had to have the most darling square toed, red allegator pumps. To combat the shorter, wider look I made sure they were high heeled and am pairing them with tall jeans.

I love love love the pointy toed shoes - in flats mostly although I have a high heeled pair in black suede with a crocodile embossed toe! The high heeled version is only for going out to eat at sit down dinners. Flats are the perfect daily choice though. Once I started wearing the pointy toed shoes (inspired by living in the South of France for 6 months), I couldn’t go back to the round toed shoes because they made me look short and stumpy. Pointy toed flats can be really comfortable. You guys should try on some other pairs if you are uncomfortable. Don’t give up!
