Great advice! I'm always looking for longer jeans because I'm about 5'10, but this will certainly save me time and money :)

Good thinking on the shrinkage. But the best option is not to tumble dry pants
at all. Clothing is best hanger dried. Clothes get ruined when you tumble dry them unfortunately. I wrote a <a href="http://www.youlookfab.com/http:/www.youlookfab.com/2006/04/14/%e2%80%9cto-dry-or-not-to-dry%e2%80%9d-that-is-the-question/ ">blog entry about this</a>.

My tailor has used this method on many of my pants. I've got a pair of pants that I'm saving to do myself with the iron-tape. Sewing is not my forte, but I'm a champ with the iron.

I find that with new casual pants (like khakis) that I plan to throw in the washer/dryer, that if you take down the hems, THEN wash/dry them, THEN get the new hem put on, you will avoid any future shrinkage. I fight for every centimeter of length with my pants!
