Fit-tastic lounging sweats
August 24th, 2007Lounging sweats are everywhere, but it’s not easy to find ones that are flattering, fun and hold up well in the wash. I am particularly fussy with loungewear because I will not settle for anything that’s drab, ill-fitting and badly made (remember ladies that we lounge with style). While fab yoga and athletic gear will also work, they’re not my choice for superb stay-at-home comfort. I prefer baggy, wide-legged, ultra soft, 100% cotton terry cloth as opposed to anything remotely clingy and synthetic. Satisfying my comfort criteria is a tall order when you still want to feel attractive in your sweats.
This season, Victoria’s Secret did the trick with their “loungey, lazy and fit-tastic” sweatpants and hoodie-top options. The pants are low-ish in the rise but wide, long and luxurious all the same (good for those with long legs). If long sweats are too warm for your climate, try the shorts option instead. I have those too and highly recommend them. The hoodie-tops are loose yet tailored and the perfect length. These sweats come in an assortment of colours (e.g. navy, grey and yellow), so don’t be put off by the pink if that’s not your cup of tea. Think beyond buying a matching set of sweats and mix up the colours a little for a more edgy ensemble.
I would never have thought to look for my loungewear at Victoria’s Secret, which just goes to show that you should never rule out a retailer. I’m delighted with my new sets of sweats and wear them every day.

Again, you’ve given me the answer before I even asked the question! I’ve been struggling with finding comfy yet stylish lounging clothes. (Lounging! Who has time to lounge?) I’m going to dedicate Sunday to the mall and trying on several pairs. It’s time for me to find a better “at home” look. This is just what I need!

funny you should mention this, because i just saw someone wearing the VS “pink” lounge pants IN PUBLIC!! (the ones that say “pink” across the tush in big letters!) what was she thinking????
anyways… i couldn’t agree with you more. i’m a big fan of cute loungewear and looking and feeling great while you putz around the house. it’s easy to skimp and say “oh, no one will see me anyways,” but YOU will see you (not to mention your sig-o)
also if you typically wear all black or really stuffy suits for work, brightly colored loungewear is so…refreshing

i wear old dresses not-quite-right to wear out, especially little summer frocks. sometimes i wear a sarong, which is *the* most comfortable thing on earth. not a fan of this loungewear…too college age and sporty.

there should be an age limit to wear these…say late 20s. i’d feel ridiculous in them. they’re muct too collegial for me

Little frocks are perfect for when temperatures soar - at home or out!
I personally find sarongs restrictive and uncomfortable around the mid section despite the fact that they are cool. Different horses for different courses I guess!

Absolutely ladies, this is a very collegiate look and you either fancy it or you don’t.
Perhaps I do because I never went to an American University, so the look remains fresh in my eyes. Anyway, I’m happy wearing a mismatched set of these sweats because oddly enough they fulfill my loungewear needs completely.
