Cozy, comfy tunics

October 12th, 2007

We look for soft comfy knits that keep us warm and cozy as the weather cools. Say goodbye to button-down shirts and thin cotton T’s, and hello to easy, A-line knitted tunics this season. Wear them over jeans (skinny, straight or bootcut), or with a thick pair of leggings and knee-high boots. Knitted tunics also fall into the “sweater dress” category, so remember to look in the dress department if you can’t find them amongst the separates. They are best matched with trenches and coats that are knee length or longer if you’re after an additional extra layer for extra warmth.

Try on a cozy knitted tunic instead of a regular pullover if you’re looking for a stretchy knit that’s flattering and forgiving. Their tailored yet relaxed appeal ensures head to toe comfort with style… the perfect casual update for Mum on the go.

The grey one in the middle looks great! Must confess that I’ve been leery of knit dresses in the past because they always seem to bag at the seat area. Was I wearing the wrong kind of knit? I think I’ve only ever bought cotton knit dresses. However, the tunic look would work quite well with other fabrics too, I imagine, like cotton, synthetics, etc. I think the leggings and high boots idea is wonderful, I can just wear regular socks with leggings too, so I won’t have to worry about tights ripping at the toes. Thanks, Angie!

Quite right about the “seat area” Lulu. The trick is to find a dress with a spot of lycra in it so that the fabric fibers contact back to their original shape.

Yes, this is a great look for moms. Thank you for the mention of that! This is the perfect piece to cover the midsection post-baby and keep mom looking stylish!

    Pears? I’m thinking no?

  5. Angie Says:

You absolutely can Joey! Keep the silhouette strong on the shoulder, A-line from the waist down and no shorter than mid thigh length…longer would be even better…sort of 5 to 8 inches above the knee (if you are a tall pear).

Is this an all ages look?

Can a pear wear the tunic top (per your suggestions above) with a boot cut jean? I was surprised to see you indicate that these tops can be worn with a number of different jean styles. I was under the impression that it had to be with the skinny jean.
