Sneak peek: Spring 2008
December 27th, 2007Hints of the Spring line have come in early this year. Here are some of the headlines:
- Green, the next big “it” colour
- Orange, a close second
- Bright yellow, ink blue, tomato red and purple still strong
- One piece dressing continues to rule… dresses, dresses, dresses
- Bold ethnic patterns everywhere
- Transparent fabrications
- Voluminous and body conscious silhouettes
- ‘80’s street wear influences
- Floral footwear and handbags
- Peep-toe booties
- Soaring heel heights
- More patent
- Tribal jewelry
- Clutches, clutches, clutches
The first thing on my Spring 2008 shopping list is a pair of green converse sneakers.

Angie, I’m very impressed that you’ve posted throughout the holiday season! I’ve just bought a slim-fitting spring coat the exact colour of the Converse trainers above. It’s great that it’ll be on trend for spring, and thanks to your post, I’ve found the perfect footwear to match it with!

What, dare I ask, is a peep-toe bootie? I’m scared.

Those shoes, a sensible thing for you to have atop your list IMO, bear a remarkable resemblance to those my younger daughter wears everyday.
Peep-toe booties? I’ll pass. lol

What shape of green? Colors all sound like the primary colors. Ekkk dresses again! Ekkk bold patterns! Wish kittens heels would return!
Like the sound of transparent. Have seen some floral shoes I like. Yeah, patent!
Thanks for the sneak peak.

Looking at Banana Republic’s spring collection, I can see just about everything you mentioned.
especially here
Love that outfit but it would look disastrous on me. Their two main colors this season seem to be that inky blue and bright green, possibly a new favorite color combo for me!

I myself had the misfortune to see the next year’s trends and I was petrified. Colors are in order, every spring-summer should have its colorful rampage and all others (ethnic prints and accessories) are a summer classic for quite some time now. And I’m glad they stick around for next year to, next to all those style-wrecking-trends.

Jill, we’re happy to add blogs that are on-topic to the youlookfab blogroll. Yours is now on the list.

I was just saying how I should get a lot more green into my wardrobe — and some yellow and orange, too! And you already know how much I love purple.
I’m happy to see dresses and clutches sticking around. Yeah for body conscious silhouettes, too!

Love those green Converse! Green is always a fabulous color for spring!

First let me say I LOVE this blog! I visit almost daily and love the practical tips and fashion applications you present here, especially because you offer suggestions for looks with both pants AND skirts. Most places just focus on pant/jean looks, and since I like to wear skirts 95% of the time, it can be really hard to find helpful and appropriate fashion inspiration. Thank you!
Now, I just have one question….are converse sneakers a with jeans only thing, or can you pull them off with some type of a skirt, too?

Indeed about the heel heights. I don’t know what the deal is with that. The spring preview of shoes at Target looks very promising, only some of the best looking shoes have 4 inch heels. I am only 5′1″; I don’t think I would wear most of the shoes anywhere except to work. I don’t know why a 3 inch heel or even 3 and a half is now considered to be less sexy than a higher heel. The high heels will all sell out too.

A peep-toe bootie is just like the “Winter Bootie” ( half shoe half boot) but has an opening at the toe. I shall not be indulging in this trend either. It is not a good idea for cold and rainy Seattle.
As far as I know Joey, we’re looking at anything from emerald green to olives and citrus limes…YUM!
I hope to get a pair of patent green converse sneakers for Spring… if somebody has designed them.
These soaring 3 inch plus heel heights are very interesting. They seem to sell, but I never see anyone wearing them daily. Must be lots of partying and sitting going on.

You are certainly spot on trend Nanjika and I hope and this was fast work! I hope to finally get a Spring trench that I love in a bright colour this season as I had no luck this year.
It’s music to my ears that you love to wear skirts Hannah Michelle, but I don’t see converse sneakers working with any type of frock. They’re just the best combination with jeans.
