I do wear specs and I have a fringe. My fringe does not form a curtain over my forehead though. It's semi off to the side, very layered and quite short so there is ample space for my specs. After sporting a very plain Jane earthy crunchy look for a few years, I went back to bangs. That was the only period in my life I didn't wear bangs. I didn't even realize that things like bangs went in and out of style. I just thought that it was somethng you either looked good in or not. The same way I wouldn't wear an article of clothing that wasn't flattering on me just beause it was in style, I wouldn't wear a hairstyle that didn't look good on me just because it was in style. I tried without for awhile, but nope...they had to come back. Not sure if I could ever go back to full forehead fringe though, since I had them growing up, but it works for some people. I was never a huge fringe fan, but I have become one precisely for the reasons you have mentioned.
