Treat yourself on Valentine’s Day

February 14th, 2008

There are frequently “hidden” items that we need, but that we don’t like to purchase because we’d rather spend money on items that get noticed right away. We neglect these items either because we have a limited budget, or because we’re not excited about them. Bras, undies, socks, lounge clothes, workout wear, sleepwear, bathrobes, slippers, perfume, make-up and socks often fall into this category.

For the love of your wardrobe, treat yourself (or be treated to) at least one of these everyday essentials. Treat someone else that you love to one of their hidden wardrobe needs. I am definitely treating myself to a sweet pair of pajamas for Valentine’s Day. My wardrobe deserves it.

i say, who says bras and panties are not seen? :-)

lately i’ve been looking for pretty workout/gardening/cleaning clothes, on the theory that i’d procrastinate less if i had a cuter wardrobe for these activities. i love zella but feel ridiculous wearing 75 dollar pants to sweat in. anyone have better suggestions?

(yes, i’ve tried american apparel, and their clothes always fit me awkwardly.)

    m,
People rave about the workout pants from Lucy. I don’t know how much they cost, though. Might be close to $75. I buy my workout gear at Target. They carry Columbia and have many options!

You are so right on as always, Angie. For some reason I feel guilty to spend money on lougewear like attractive cotton dresses for wearing at home, yet I wear those for hours every day!

LOL! I just posted about this today. I’m totally on your page. Why should I force my husband to look at me in ratty ol’ pajamas when I’d never go to the grocery store and expect strangers to look at me in ratty ol’ clothes. I bought a new pair of jammies recently, but I need about 2 more pairs to justify getting rid of the junky stuff I’ve been wearing.

Oooh, those pink pants looks so cute and comfy!

m, Lucy lounge pants are nice but will set you back about the same amount of money. I know that $75 is a lot to spend on a pair of Zella sweats but Zella items are different, gorgeous and exceptional quality. They are so much better than Lucy and an item you will have for while. I hope that you treated yourself on Valentine’s Day.

Lulu, if you amortize the amount you spent on your loungewear with the number of hours that you wear them, you’ll probably find that these items end up being the most cost effective items in your wardrobe. Treat yourself to fab lounging dresses!
