I may have to try that. As for your chapped lips... this isn't fabulous, but CarMax lip balm (the tub NOT tube) is the only thing that keeps my incredibly dry lips smooth and kissable for hours!

Well Karen, you are right! I have been under the illusion that Elizabeth Arden was Australian all my life. It seemed to have been marketed that way when I grew up in Hong Kong (which is quite close to Australia). My late Mother use to use the odd Arden product and she seemed to have been under the same illusion. I contacted my biz savvy Australian friend down under a few days ago and asked him whether Arden was Auzzie. To his surprise, he recently found out that it wasn’t. He had also thought that Arden was an Australian cosmetic house. So interesting! Elizabeth Arden started off as an American company and was bought by Unilver (a Dutch Company) a little while ago. Thanks for pointing that out to us.

Hi Angie,
Elizabeth Arden is owned by the Dutch/Uk firm, Unilever, and is not Australian as you mentioned. Unfortunately I do not agree with your review of Eight Hour Cream. The strong fragrance of petrol is enough to put me off this product.

P.s. Angie, I've been enjoying your blog for awhile but these are the first posts i've made. I've been overhauling my wardrobe after a weight loss and change of lifestyle. Your "flop-proof outfit" advice really saved me.

At www.dhc.com

Note, I do not work for the company and I'm not getting paid for this endorsement.... I've just become a huge fan this past winter! I got a free sample in the mail (their catalog always includes free samples), loved it, and have been loving it ever since.

Their Extra Nighttime Moisturizer is also worth it (especially if you are in your 40s, like I am). It will feel greasy - so only use it at night. By the time you wake up, it'll have all absorbed and you'll be glowing. While it does feel greasy initially, I have not had any breakouts. You get free samples when you order something - so give it a try too.

I tried their eye cream but didn't like it - left me with stinging eyes. If anyone has any suggestions for eye cream, let me know.

Hi Angie,

Thanks for the recommendation - I live in Beijing and I was just discussing this problem with my friends here - the harsh winters in Beijing as well as the pollution wreak havoc with your skin so we are always looking for solutions to keep our skin mositurised - also what is the brand Jen mentioned (DHC) Cleansing oil?

I have been living with dry, flaky patches on my face for years. It makes it very difficult to apply make-up as the flaky areas just grab onto the stuff, making them even more noticeable. I have started using Pond's cold cream out of sheer desperation and it does very little. I am certainly going to purchase this product. Thank you very much for your post! I'm crossing my fingers! By the way, I live in Florida where we are not known for our dry air.
