The best ballet flat
April 2nd, 2008This is the most comfortable ballet flat I own. It’s called the “Swann flat” and it’s by the brand “Me Too”, which is available online or in department stores. This style is particularly comfortable because it’s minus the chorded piping around the edge of the shoe that tends to rub against your skin after an hour of wear. In addition, the cushioning and flexibility are so superb that you won’t need trouser socks or footies for extra comfort.
I walked San Francisco flat in these rubber-soled skimmers and they passed the “8-hour” mark with flying colours. The Swann flat might work for a wider foot even though they don’t come in wide because they’re really soft and supple. Order half a size up because the toe box is short and pop in an insert if you prefer more arch support.

The Swann flat has a patent cap-toe and bow which makes it a little smarter and therefore not ideal if you’re after a more casual look. It’s not offered in plain leather like the comfy Ann Klein Flat, but it’s perfect for smart casual and business casual settings.

I think I like the Ann Klein flats better… I’m not a real fan of patent to be honest!

Quite right. This ballet flat won’t tickle your fancy if you don’t like patent (even though it’s just a trim). But the unprecedented comfort of this ped might convert you!

I adore my Me Too flats! (They have many styles, so if you don’t like patent, just search Me Too on Nordstrom or Zappos!!)

OMG, yes! I own a pair of the Swann flats in black and pewter and they are so incredibly comfortable. To make things better, I found them on clearance at Loehmann’s for about $12. If the opportunity arises I am going to have to buy a few more in case I wear out this one pair.

OMG! I have to have the white pair with the black accents! They would go with most of my wardrobe!
Thanks for sharing!

Angie, you’re an answer to my fashion prayers! On Wednesday I was at the Rack trying on flats, only to leave knowing that the Me Too’s I already owned and were wearing that day, though a bit worn, were better than all the other brands I tried. I gotta check out more Me Too’s, I thought…and then just the next day, you posted this! So I ordered a pair yesterday and they just arrived…Zappos never cease to amaze me with their customer service…and I love ‘em! Even though I have trouble with bunions, they seem like they will work really well. Thank you so much!

My plesaure ladies.
I am thrilled for you in particular Judy. I understand how difficult it is to fit bunions comfortably and stylishly. It’s fab that these gorgeous little flats worked for you. Thank heavens for Zappos because Nordstrom has just run out of the Swann flat. It’s selling like hot cakes!

OK, Angie, now please tell how you can wear any flat - or any shoe, for that matter - for 8 hours without socks of any kind and not stink them up! I know lots of girls that go sockless and subsequently stench the whole room when removing their shoes. No matter how pretty or comfy, if my shoes were that nasty, I wouldn’t want to wear them ever again!

My feet don’t sweat Sherry V, and there is no stench.

Great post. I’ve seen Me Too shoes, but never have tried them. I really should as it’s my job to find comfortable yet stylish shoes and report back on my blog. Glad to hear a poster says they’re easy on her bunions. I’ll have to head over to my local comfy shoe store and try them on…then come home and order them online–can usually get a better deal

Angie was totally right about these. They fit my feet despite having bunions on one foot, an extra wide width, flat arches, and one foot longer than the other. If these shoes fit my feet, they will work for anyone. The material on the interior is amazing as well. It’s very soft and well cushioned and doesn’t cause blisters. If Me Too wanted to charge $200 for these shoes, they would have every right to, but they don’t, which just makes them that much better.
