I’ve been using this for a while, and it is by far the best on the market. I used to sweat real bad from my pits after the mitchum smart solid gave me this hideous scabby rash in my under arm. All those new products like old spice high endurance and the other ones that say they stop arm pit sweating just made my pits leak like a faucet. So I tried certain dri and it has completely stop the sweating. The only drawback is it makes me itch like a mofo after I put it on, but I usually put some eurucin anti itch cream on after certain dri soaks in so I can sleep at night and not try to scratch my arm pits off. The itching doesn’t bother me during the day so its all good. I still put on a regular deodorant in the morning just because it feels better to have to have it on during the day. I would give this a 9 out of 10 only because of the itching, but this is something you have to try if nothing else works.

so .. i got this product tonight, and just put it on for the first time because im going to bed soon.

it ALREADY itches like crazy! - is this normal?

I starting using this product on Angie’s recommendation, and it’s fantastic! I have eczema, and this product didn’t bother me at all–no itchiness, darkening, etc. I do follow the directions religiously though, and it doesn’t completely cut out the sweat if I’m doing serious walking in the sun or anything, but it definitely cuts down on it. I love it and have thrown my old deodorant away.

You apply it at night Christie, and it’s absorbed after 5 minutes which makes showering in the morning fine. Hope that you like this product as much as I do.

Question: I love Certain Dri too. But I have notice that it stains my armpits with a light brown color (looks like I didn’t shave). It works great so I hate too stop using it but, it’s summer season and I do not want to wear tank tops because of it.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I love love LOVE Certain Dri. I found it a couple of years ago and tried it out of desperation. I would sweat all the time, summer or winter and always wore dark colors to hide the stains. I turned my roommate, both my sisters and my mom on to this. This product ROCKS!

I’d rather sweat, thanks.

Because it’s crazy hot and humid here, everybody sweats. I’d rather be concerned with smells that aren’t my perfume. For that, I use Thai crystals: http://www.deodorantstones.com/item7131.ctlg Works better than any of those awful sealants preferred here (and, apparently, “here” at this site).

As someone who suffers from excessive underarm sweating, this product has been a godsend! I’ve used it religiously for the last 2 yrs and could not live without it. No more embarrassing armpit wetness on my shirts! I’ve learned through trial and error that it has to be applied right before bedtime, on clean DRY underarms… You need to make sure they are dry before applying, and never apply right after a shower, or it will itch. It does take time to build up for max effect, so you do have to commit to daily use. If you shower in the morning, that’s ok, it will not come off as it gets absorbed into the topical sweat glands in your skin. I sometimes layer it with Certain Dri AM in the morning, which has a light, fresh scent. Also, it doesn’t completely stop your body from sweating, just keeps it under control. You will still sweat elsewhere as you might normally if your body needs to release moisture. I’ve been to several dermatologist and they all recommend using it daily only if you have perspiration issues, or just as prep for special occasions.

After reading some comments,

I felt that I need to do more research about the body temperature regulation since it was something I was told from dermetologist a while ago. After doing some research I found a paper published at International Journal of Cosmetic Science on 2003 that talks about that exact question. (title is “The Effect of Antiperspirants on Whole Body Sweat Rate and Thermoregulation”)

From experiment they did, they concluded “although antiperspirant prevents sweat production in the axillary area, this does not impact on the ability of the
body to thermoregulate following a rise in core body temperature.”

I also found some interesting fact that I thought you guys might be interested.
1. We swat 1L of sweat/day from 3 million sweat glands
2. This could increase to 2L-10L if you excersized or in a hot weather.
3. The sweat from arm is somewhere between 1-10ml from 25 thousand sweat glands.

So I guess the amount of sweat from arm is less than 1% of total sweat but it causes so much stress!!

I love this product and use it often. It’s the only thing I’ve found that allows me to wear shirts in fun colors… I used to stick to black only because I would sweat so badly!

That being said, as the above posters have mentioned, it DOES itch like the devil. Also, you should definitely only use it at night… and make sure to wear old clothes or something you don’t care about because it bleaches the armpit area! I forgot to apply it one night and put in on in the morning instead and ended up ruining a shirt! Don’t make this mistake!
