Slip-on sneakers

May 29th, 2008

Summer can mean adding a more relaxed dimension to the ensemble mix. School holiday activities, park and pool settings, hot weather holidays and uber casual, run-around-town excursions call for a slip-on fashion sneaker. The vamps are low which means that they’re prefect paired with anything from casual frocks and skirts, to walk shorts, capris, casual pants and jeans.

Choose the style wisely to maintain a somewhat sophisticated edge to your look. The goal is not to look like a teenybopper but rather to be comfy, casual, age appropriate and stylish.

Slip-on fashion sneakers like these are a little more versatile than styles with big, sporty rubberized soles. The latter look best with denim and sports inspired knitted tops… and virtually nothing else.

I like these for casual settings. I have a pair of Keds that has a tiny wedge and it’s very comfy and versatile.

What is age appropriate? :D I always think of shoes, purses and other accessories as a chance to have fun. I’m 36, not dead :D

Aren’t these ballet flats ? Or are those something different ?

Lisa I’d say that skip the big patterns, go for something that matches your outfit and is not too gaudy. Anyway, these are meant for casual dressing, so I think it’s easy to get it right.

These are very cute! Although I can’t think of any situation where I would wear them in preference to the ballet flats or flat sandals I already have. I’d definitely get these if I lived in an urban area where people do a lot of city walking. The thick rubber soles look like they provide more cushioning than regular flat shoes, and they are more stylish than sneakers.

I find these to be terribly uncomfortable, even though they’re the rage in HK. I’d rather wear Converses or light runners if I were really wanting this type of shoe. :/
