Paris, adieu
June 7th, 2008We’ve decided to end Parisian week by indulging in a post that has nothing to do with fashion and style. The reason for our trip to France last week was a school reunion. Greg went to INSEAD, a business school in a quaint French town just outside Paris called Fontainebleau. The town is famous for the Château de Fontainebleau and beautiful forest. While there we met many old friends at school reunion events, walked in the forest, visited our former houses, and attended a grand ball at the Château, complete with fireworks and red carpet ensembles.

We spent the rest of the time with dear friends in the heart of Paris. We stayed in an area called “Le Marais”, our favourite part of Paris because it’s (a little) less touristy, more edgy, arty-farty, atmospheric and simply magical. It’s in walking distance from an island on the Seine called “Ile de la Cité” and well known French districts “Saint Germain” and “Montparnasse”.

The streets of Le Marais and Ile de la Cité are brimming with interesting nooks and crannies. There is no shortage of interesting shops, boutiques, parks, tiny art galleries, bistros, florists, markets, bakeries and restaurants. We sat outside and people-watched for hours yakking with our friends after healthy doses of cheese, salad, pastries and Nutella crepes.

We thoroughly enjoyed presenting Parisian week here at YLF and hope that you enjoyed traveling to Paris with us. Stay tuned for the next global experience.

Angie, you are soooo beautiful. I loved seeing your pearls in that one photo! They’re fab.
Thanks so much for sharing your photos and experiences from your trip to Paris. Those of us who haven’t made it there (yet) love to live vicariously through the travels of others!

Thank you for sharing your photos - you two are the cutest couple! I am a huge fan of your site and Paris (former bf went to INSEAD as well.)
My husband and I stay in Le Marais everytime and love the people watching - including L’Heurtier, the best cafe there. We haven’t been in a few years and it was fun sharing in your travels.

Hi Angie - You’ve got to pst a photo of you at the Summer Ball so that all the YouLokkFabbers out there can check out your black-tie / formal style! Hot Hot Hot. Wish we’d seen you in Paris - we wandered around our favourite streets near the Place des Vosges, Rue des Francs Bourgeois and Rue Vieille du Temple too. Great shops. If anyone wants two excellent places in Le Marais recommended - both on Rue Vieille du Temple, try Cafe Les Philosophes (at number 28) for a good value bistro meal and then conveniently next door ‘Au Petit Fer a Cheval’ (cool bar, tiny place with horseshoe-shaped bar - giving it its name). Enjoy!

Angie, you are so pretty and fabulous. I too, enjoy reading your posts a lot and the pictures! I’m happy to see your observation about Paris and it reminds me a lot of my trip to Paris just few weeks ago!
Thanks to you and your forum that when I was in Europe (Abo/Turku, Stockholm, and Paris) during this trip I did not look like just “off the boat.”

Angie, great posts while in Paris. I enjoyed all your reporting on trends and street style. That’s the same type of information I try to convey to me readers after a trip, so it was great to get a “midseason” report before my next trip to Europe in the fall. I will have to check out Anne Fontaine next time I’m in Paris as well. Not to be redundant you and your husband look fabulous, and you have cheekbones to die for! Keep up the great work.
