help with accessories - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all!
Long time no post..have been crazy busy with a lot of travelling all over the place.
This is very last minute and I had totally forgotten about it. I need to go to a wedding this week and am in panic mode..was really hoping to get a chance to post pictures but looks like it may not happen so here are the links. I have the dress picked out and am stumped for accessories

The dress is kinda simple but is a good fit and color so I was thinking to make the accessories work.

I have never used clutches before so all I have is a black patent mini bag and a patent cobalt blue clutch which I am not really sure will go with the dress. Any ideas?

what about this in champagne? Since i dont use them often i dont want to spend a lot at this time

Jewellery:
Inspired by the pearl ladies here, I am thinking pearls!
How much is too much? only one at a time like necklace or earrings or bracelet? What about earrings and necklace?
I got a multi strand necklace from AT but cant find it on the site. Its 4 strands of about 6 mm pearls beaded sparsely on a thin steel wire.
Along with that I was thinking these earrings that I have:

Do I need a bracelet? if so what would look good? Is a wrap essential? ..

its a formal event and starts at 5 pm so I'm not sure how formal I need to be? This is my first time going to an American(or western for that matter) wedding and have no clue what I'm supposed to be doing

Any ideas, tips and critique is really appreciated.

Hi, Mirah, good to have you back. I definitely like the idea of metallic/sparkly with this dress, as it is such a dark, rich color. I don't think black will do it justice. However, I'm not sure about the metallic shoes (pewter and bronze, I think?) with the champagne purse. That might be too much. Can you find a bag that coordinates with one of the shoe colors? The neckline of your dress just begs for a necklace, and pearls would be fab. I'd be careful about necklace + earrings (try it and see if it looks too busy, like the pieces are competing with each other), but you could definitely do necklace + bracelet. Can you post pics of the final result?

Mirah the dress and purse looks lovely, and I love the way you took the picture of the earrings - could almost be an art picture. But I have some reservations about the shoes. They look a bit "old lady" style to my eye. But I am posting from the other side of the world, where it is winter so I might be out in my opinion!

Love the dress and earrings! They are going to look great. I know how you battle with shoes, and I think they could work. Love how you paired the light metals with the dark dress. I’d throw in a teal clutch with the plum dress.

Thank you Angie! Teal is a great idea.I'm glad I dont have to stick to metallics ! I am doing well and really missing not being able to post (though I am reading up regularly) I am amazed at your memory and touched that you remember my foot issues

Becky and Tanya ..thanks for the tip of the purse as well as the earrings/necklace getting busy..i tried them together and you are right..I thought since both of them are delicate they might work. But I will look for a bracelet. and then decide the best combination.

Anne..you are right..the shoes are slightly old lady style but I have fussy wide feet and if i do manage to find a nice pair that fits I cant wear heels for too long . So comfort is taking front foot here

Thank you all for the assurance though..I was hesitant about the dress being too plain.

Mirah - nice to see you back. Hope you had a great trip to India. This dress will show off your lovely gams. Agree with what others have said. I would be cautious about adding too many pieces of jewellery. However, since the dress is a single color, you could get away with have a multi stranded necklace. In that case, I'd hold off on earrings.
