J. Crew Solid Silk Elizabeth Halter--Review

Hi All!

I got my silk Elizabeth halter in Soft Azalea today. I know some of you are interested in the top, so I'll post some info here. My husband was sweet to take some pictures, which I'll post here as well for your reference. I really like the blouse, it's so pretty (the ruffled neckline really makes it) and the color is richer and deeper in color than it appears on the website. It runs BIG. I mean, I ordered an XS and a S, and I've decided the keep the XS (for reference I wear a 6/8 on top and have a 36" bust). It looks really cute under cardis and nice on it's own with a belt. Belting it is not big deal because the silk is lightweight and doesn't "tent out" at the bottom like some stiffer fabrics tend to do with a waist belt. I personally wouldn't wear this without a belt unless I tucked it in, because it hangs straight down in the front and I don't think that's very flattering on me. Someone with a smaller chest could probably pull it off nicely though. Also, if you wear it without a cardigan, it needs a strapless bra (as you'll see in the photos). Here they are:

Wow Ana it looks incredible on you! The color is oh-so-flattering! And the detailing is gorgeous! I like it in all the three ways, beautiful!

I have been thinking about it for a while, but being on the shopping ban, am in a weird way relieved that even XS would probably be to big for me anyway ( I wear 0/2 on the top). But I can certainly envy you on it !

I tried this on a long while back, in the store, when it first came out, but it was way too big on me.

Beautiful Ana. It's amazing to me that how you know just what will make it work. I love the blue with it, and the belt is what makes it look so fab. That really is a lovely color on you--and I can see why you love ruffles so much--they look so perfect on you.

Angie I am SO much a blousy girl. I've always had loads of tops and maybe 4 or 5 bottoms, that's it. It's a battle when I go shopping for bottoms, because my practical voice is saying, "You need bottoms," and my shopping voice is saying, "Oh, look at this blouse! You need this blouse!" and my practical voice: "Focus--you need bottoms!" It's been fun shopping for summer tops lately, which I actually need at the same time.
